All vans need to have there own water tanks, as our camping spots do not have water facilities. It is recommended that your van has a minimum of 60L of water capacity, it can generally be replenished every day or so along the way.
All vans also need to use either gas or 12V fridges and 12V lighting, there is no 240V where we go! We do not use generators when camping and request that all participants do not use generators. Solar power to recharge is highly recommended, along with recharging from your vehicle while driving.
While some spots do have long-drop toilets, most do not and one needs to have their own toilet facilities, either portable of built-in. It is recommended to have at least 2 days storage as dump points can be a few days apart.
Vehicle Requirements
All vehicles need to have one spare tyre and if your van cannot use your vehicles spare tyre, then the van requires its own spare tyre. Note – “mag” wheels and steel wheels use different wheel nuts, be aware if using different rim types..
A UHF two-way radio is required (5W vehicle mounted recommended) and if your vehicle does not have one, we can provide a hand-held for a small additional charge. It is strongly recommended that anyone towing a van has a UHF radio in their vehicle, it is invaluable for talking between vehicles and for communication with trucks when overtaking or being overtaken.
Its your responsibility that your vehicle is suitably rated for your van. This includes GVM, GCM and tow ball load capacities.
Its is recommended that you have a tyre pressure gauge and air compressor to adjust your vehicle and tyre pressures for gravel road driving.
