Welcome to OutBack Camping Encounters, where one learns how to experience a true camping encounter and appreciate the joys of outback caravaning, away from crowded caravan parks.

Experience Western Australia’s outback in the comfort of your own van and learn how to utilise the vast amont of formal and informal bush camping spots.

Camping “off-grid” can be daunting for the uninitiated, but once experienced we are sure it will become your preferred way to travel and see the vastness and attractions Western Australia has to offer.

Let OutBack Camping Encounters show you how to use your van off-grid and enjoy the true Aussie outback.

What we do

Travelling and camping in the Australian Outback is a dream many of us have. But if one has always relied on caravan parks, camping “off-grid” in the outback can be daunting for the first time.

OutBack Camping Encounters will guide you on how to use your van away from caravan parks and experience the great outdoors, all in the company of our experienced guides.

We are not a tag-a-long tour, but instead show you how to camp and use you own vehicle and van off-grid by way of practical demonstrations while camping at iconic locations. We show you how to set up your bush camp and our nightly chats around the camp fire (season permitting) will provide a wealth of tips on outback camping.

Our destinations typically involve gravel road driving and for this reason it is strongly recommended to have an off-road rated van. All gravel road driving is undertaken on “good quality” roads, but these can vary due to weather and general road traffic.

Where possible we travel on bitumen roads, but many of WA’s iconic outback attractions can only be accessed by using gravel roads….. our trips do not involve “hard-core” off-roading, just well maintained gravel roads to access the attractions.

We have regular driving breaks and try to limit the amount of driving each day to a maximum of 4-5 hours, but this can vary if road conditions change.
